Things To Do In The Lake District, January

January can be a be flat, for many people, with what seems to be a choice of working your way through the remainder of the Christmas goodies, whilst glazing over in front of the January TV, or mindlessly pounding away at the gym, in the hope that life will be transformed.

Well, what about actually DOING something more interesting?

If you’re looking for a post Christmas break (and more and more people are these days), you may be wondering what the Lake District is like in the middle of winter.  Well it’s quieter for a start – and a lot of you find that’s a bonus in itself.  Yes, the weather is changeable, but let’s face it, that’s the same at any time! Sometimes it’s a bit wet and mild, but we also get those crisp, cold clear days with sunshine and the perfect blue sky.

Ever come across this word?

It means the warmth of the sun on a cold day.

Isn’t that great?

Here’re a few of January activities in the Lake District in 2018

If art is your thing, then this is definitely for you. It’s a fantastic exhibition of print makers, and you can browse the works, learn about the processes, meet the artists – and maybe even buy a piece. And entry is FREE.

Within Rheged, just outside Penrith, there are also small interesting shops to visit, plus cafes and restaurants, so makes a lovely trip out.

Another chance to see a live performance by up and coming singer songwriter, Hannah White. Hannah’s been getting a lot of media attention lately, but loves The Swinside Inn, and we are privileged to have her perform here again.

Hannah write her own songs, which have a very personal, heart rending feel, leaving the audience blown away by her talent.

Don’t miss out on this amazing performance
