Second Chef

We are looking for a second Chef to join our team and support our head chef

Chef responsibilities include studying recipes, setting up special menus and preparing quality dishes. You should be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner. The job will include a mixture early shifts and days shift, but we can work around you. Live in accommodation is available.

Ultimately, you’ll prepare and deliver a complete menu that delights our guests.

  • Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales

  • Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients

  • Cook food in a timely manner

  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff

  • Inform wait staff about daily specials

  • Ensure appealing plate presentation

  • Supervise Cooks and assist as needed

  • Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)

  • Monitor food stock and place orders

  • Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items

  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area


  • Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook

  • Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g. grillers and pasta makers)

  • knowledge of culinary, butchery, baking and pastry techniques

  • Leadership skills

  • Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks

  • Excellent time management abilities

  • Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes

  • Familiarity with sanitation regulations

Restaurant Supervisor

We are a small family run Hotel with seating for approximately 80 guests. We are looking for restaurant supervisor to work 5 days a week.

To ensure service standards are maintained. • To ensure daily and weekly staff briefings within the team are happening. • To ensure the department as a function delivers all Restaurant & Bar Core Standards. • To ensure standard checklists are used as prescribed. • To empower team to be able to handle all positive and negative guest feedback and record correctly. • To actively consider prevention, recovery and investigation of any complaints. • To undertake to be responsible for cleanliness and presentation of the restaurant & bar in the hotel. • To anticipate guests’ needs wherever possible and promote hospitality within the hotel, enhancing guest satisfaction. • To carry out quality training and coaching in a systematic and professional manner using the Restaurant & Bar training program. • To ensure company and legal standards for cleanliness are maintained within the department. • To ensure the team are correctly uniformed, in line with company standards and understand the importance of personal hygiene. • To ensure team are punctual, polite, courteous and helpful to guests and colleagues at all times. • To be fully conversant with the facilities, services and promotions offered by the hotel and Essential • Passion for the hospitality industry. • Excellent product knowledge of food and drink. • Excellent organisational skills. • Team Player. • An excellent eye for detail. • A self starter with a passion for excellence. • A confident, friendly and personable manner. • High level of discretion and trustworthiness. • IT Skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Experience leading a team. • Experience within the hospitality industry.

 We’re currently looking at building a ‘bank’ of occasional workers, to work at Keswick, in The Lake district.

This is to help us during busy times (ie Duncan Booth’s 10in10 event, our Beer and Music Festival, our Fireworks Night; the busy summer season; as well as help cover staff leave etc). So you must be over 18 years old.  (See below, if you’re younger)

Or maybe you’d prefer to do 1 shift per week? Could be a 4 hour shift, or a 7 hour shift.

So How Much Could You Be Earning?

Here’s an example: If you’re over 21 years old, and working as a general assistant, we pay £10 per hour.
